A smoke screen

I wait for some unknown or I wander away...
I care for days gone or let my mind sway...
Am I glad for being lost or sad for being astray...
I sit here hidden by a smoke screen.

Terrible it is to fear the unknown...
Even worse to lose the will to know...
I don't quiver as the cold winds blow...
I sit here warmed by a smoke screen.

Kind words meant to soothe...
Even fail to muffle the truth...
There are only few that care...
So I sit here caressed by a smoke screen.

places with lights of hope I've many been..
many a people with smiles brilliant seen...
All that just fades away my friend...
I sit here blinded by a smoke screen.

A rainy summer night

The rain gods come roaring to play...
thundering to turn this night to day.
A few moments more I like to stay...
listening to your tears drop away.

A parched earth smiles...
as it gladly drinks it's share.
Souls out for fun without care...
As sweet smell of soil fills the air.
